2004 Four, Six and Rotor Rivals - Heathcote Park 19/06/04
Event Report and Pictures: Ben Winstone
The 2004 Four, Six and Rotor Rivals event was unfortunately hampered by bad weather over the weekend. Friday's test and tune session was cancelled, while light rain on Saturday caused a slight delay before racing resumed later in the afternoon.
There were several quick cars in attendance, including the Rotormaster RX-7 (which didn't manage to race due to the weather), along with the 4-Rotor 'BARB' BMW and the 'YGO20B' Series 5 RX-7, who had made the trip down from New South Wales. The BMW only performed one half pass, while YGO20B suffered a driveline breakage on its first pass.
The 'IGNITE' RX-4 coupe from Promaz was in attendance and made a number of mid to high 9-second passes, while the pink Boostworx RX-3 Coupe from South Australia launched hard all day and ran a best time of 10.5 @ 134mph.
Harry Kojima's RB26 R31 Skyline got loose a number of times and ran into the nines, while the 'PANNIC' VL Turbo spun the wheels off the line and didn't complete a full power pass, while the 'CREATD' Lancer ran into the mid 11s at more than 130mph. The neat Datsun 1200 coupe 'THEBUZ' suffered from clutch troubles on its first pass and didn't manage to race again, look out for a full feature on this car in the future.
