This years Queensland Jamboree was more highly anticipated than ever, for a number of reasons. With several of the PRO RWD cars running extremely fast times close to the event, the crowd were keen to see a 6-second pass at the event. It didn't happen however, although the Pac MX-6 came extremely close.

It was also the first time that the Queensland event had been held under ANDRA Sport Compact rules, and it was the inaugural event for the newly created 'OzMod' class that was designed to cater for those racing in the unofficial 'Untubbed' class. While the class is reasonably open in terms of mechanical setups (four, six and rotary vehicles are allowed), it is limited to a maximum tyre size of 28x9-inches.
